Fownding The Emergensy Thunder Shelter

Yesterday's scores:

  • Gills: restin
  • Simpsons: yes
  • Tesco: no
  • Nose Hugs Surprizisity Score: too trormatized /10
  • Day Score: shut up! /10

HULLO NOT-A-BEARS!

It thunderd. In cayse yu dident get the troo significants of that, let me say it agen.

IT THUNDERD.

Brrrr....

We Bears don't like thunder. Weev ownly got smoll eers. (Rownd wuns.)

Yewsually I get throo it by burrowin under the duvay wiv my Emergensy Hug Pants till it's safe to come out. But I desydid it was time we Bears had a properly allocaytid Playce To Go Wen It Thunders. So I eermarkt the airing cubbod. That duzzent meen I drew eers on it. Wat I DID do was cleerly mark it out fer other Bears:

In de Olden days, durin the war, they wud hav had speshol shelters fer wen the baddies dropt boms.

They wud hav markt them cleerly, like this.

By happy co-insidants, this is also a playse assoshyaytid wiv menny PANTS. So we wer abol to settol in nicely:

Inside the Thunder Shelter, wher menny Bears fownd pants to hold on to wyle the older types sang songs abowt bein brayve...

Shor enuff, by 10am, it thunderd. We all did brayve. (Bears do brayve.) (I may hav menshond this befor sumwhere.)

Mummy poppt her hed rownd the door at half parst to say it was all over sum time ago, but arfter a meetin on the matter, we desydid it wud be best to stay in there for the rest of the day, jus to be on the safe side. I meen, there's nowher sayfer than a cubbod full of pants, is ther?

Enyway. Pleez enshor that YOR Bears hav a designaytid Playce To Go Wen It Thunders reddy fer next time.

Pant donayshuns always welcom.

Bye fer now!

Near the end of my university career...as a student that is...I found out the building I resided in doubled as a fall-out shelter. That was a bit cool and disturbing at the same time.

Brave Bob,

Loud thunder booms sound scary but it's the lightning to be afraid of.

I'm worried about Dilly.

Phy,
Don't worry. If yu hav Emergensy Hug Pants and think of being brayve, thunder issent a problem. Yu just hav to be prepared.

Bears hav to be prepared fer all evenchewalitys. Yu lern this as yu grow up. Yor still a littol Bear but don't worry. Arsk yor hewman fer sum Hug Pants.

If she is slow in gettin yu sum, jus climb in the dror an choos sum fer yorself. Girl hewmans always hav too menny enyway.

If yu go to the bak of the dror yu'll find sum intrestin wuns that hav ownly been worn twice. But they won't be verry big. If yu want a big soft pair, go fer grey.

Remember, Phy, bein scared duzzent meen yor not brayve cos if yu wernt scared yu wuddent need to be brayve an so probly woodent be.

Hugs,

Bob

In Abearica, we have no air closets. We have closets, of course, but Peoples stuff Eberything into closets, so no place left for safe bear quarters. Our heater is in the basement behind all the stuff that couldn't fit in closets. (Peoples hords more stuff then bears hoard hotdogs...ummm, pants?!)

With that we must be brave in other ways for thunderstorms, especially being caregiver bears. (We are responsible for all care given to our Peoples -- Mommy and Daddy -- as well as caring for our families.

We are sorry to report that we gave you that storm. Of course, the middle of our country gave it to us first, so we got it on June 8th, so it took four days to get to your country. So that same storm gave us practice being good caregivers AND being brave. Hopefully, we can give you good ideas on other ways of being brave.

When the thunder rumbles, we scurry up to our Daddy and Mommy's shoulder...uhhh, errr, to protect them of course! We also shake to make a bad target for any stray lightnin'. If more thunder booms, or it gets louder, we climb onto Mommy and Daddy's head, making sure to shake more. (Some times Daddy and Mommy think we are shivering from fear, but we are too brave to do THAT! Humph! Now, if thunder keeps coming, we try to climb higher, but those points on their heads are beary slippery. (They don't really have pointy heads, but we had to say that to prove we aren't a'scared! kehehe?!) Really, if it keeps making big bommy noises, we hop on one foot and try too stand on our tiptoes to climb as high as possible!

Well, we hope you have some other ideas on how to handle being brave during thunderstorms.

Sorry, we haven't been around lately, but our wives, daughters, and Mommy (The Garden Gals) have been keeping us busy building things to put containers on and filling new containers with just the right mixture of soil, and giving them our opinions of what should go where. It's beary hard work, you know. We've been working on it whenever we can, and it still looks like a whole bunch of containers filled with green leafy things instead of an oh-fish-earl garden yet. We're sure the neighbors are wondering why our yard is still a mess, but then again, they all cheat -- they BUY already finished containers of flowers, while we do it the oh-fish-earl way -- start seeds and protect baby plants until we can get them outside.

We will have pictures as soon as it looks like a garden, and then we can come visit more often.

Your brave Abearican Bear Buddies,
Teddy T. and Spaulding T. Bears
