HULLO NOT-A-BEARS!

Oh boy oh boy oh boy.

Yu remember thoze luvly fotoze ov our Crismoss tree? Well, it dident look like that fer long!

Yesterday Mummy notisst that the tree waz leekin stikky stuff onto the Crismoss cards that sheed put arownd its pot. "Hello!" she thort, "Wy iz the tree leekin stikky stuff?" an so she got her hed in close fer a good look. This is wat she fownd:BUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They wer eetin the tree! An wherever the tree waz bein eeten, it waz prodewsin stikky sap to try to defend itself. This wassent werkin very well...... Mummy fownd harf a duzzen ov them. They wer reelly fat an mayde a satisfyin "phfut" sownd wen yu skwisht them. But altho that's kwite fun, it issent reelly wat a Crismoss tree is for.

So! Off we went, bak to the plarnt playse where we bort it from. We took the bug in the pikcher wiv us: Mummy stuk it to a bit ov parsol taype. It waz still kikin its legs abowt wen we got there.

The man in the plarnt playse sed it waz an aphid, an that they must hav been hybernaytin in our tree. Wen it had been in our howse fer a few days, they thort it waz summer an so all cayme out to play an eet our tree. So the man gayve us sum bug spray:We took all the decorayshuns off the tree an put wite tishoo payper rownd its pot. We sprayd it all over and LOOK! Hundreds an hundreds ov bayby bugs dropt owt.

We kept replaysin the tishoo payper an it kept gettin cuverd wiv new ded bugs.

Weev been doin this sinse yesterday arfternoon. There duzzent seem to be eny mor left in there, but the man sed to watch out, cos there may be eggs in there, an if we stop too eerly, an put the decorayshuns bak on too soon, it will all start agen.

Hopefully weel be abol to decorayte the tree agen in time fer Crismoss.....

Meenwile, Dilly is upset. She sez she waz farmin theez bugs for her Crismoss feast...... I shud hav known sheed be behind this sumwhere......

Bye fer now!

ahhh, dang it, BTB, that is a real bummer you had to take all those pretty decorations off.

you could have just gotten a wood pecker...he would have eaten all the bugs, pounded a few little holes in your tree getting them out, but no more bugs!

Bob!

You seem very self-possessed for a bear dealing with an INFESTATION! I'm mightily impressed with your attitude.

You know, when my girl adopted me from Airedale Rescue, they told her that I had a phobia of butterflies and all flying bugs. It turns out, that is sometimes correct (sometimes not - depends on how I'm feeling on a given day ~ sometimes I try to hunt them down to eat them & sometimes I skitter around the yard like I'm being dive-bombed).

Hope the INFESTATION is erradicated soon. Why not just throw a couple of your dad's worn & dirty guard socks in the tree. I'd think that should work.

Goober love,
Stanley

Oh Bob, that's awful. I hope you are bugless by tomorrow and can get the decorations up again. I think some of those bugs may have got in my computer - all sorts of fun and games, so may not be blogging very well for a few days.

Happy, happy Christmas and remember to hang you stocking up!

dear, dear...what a story...I hope you didn't really kill them, did you...that you put them in a small box and took the car to release them in the country , that's what you did didn't you ????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and poor Dilly...or not too...I thought you were all vegetarians !!! eat bugs, poor little insects...
ahhhhhhhhhhh...
I give you only a little kiss...

Ladybirds! That's the answer! Lots of 'em - they eat greenfly and are much cuter to look at.

Poor Dilly! P'raps if you put some currants on the tree instead of the bugs she might not notice the difference, just think they were big, fat, juicy bugs!
Just a thort. Hugs, GrannyK

A bug is for life, not just for Christmas (in your case I hope not!)

Happy Christmas to you and your family Bob.
