Sunflowers Bob, definetly sunflowers.

I voted for sunflowers. Whilst your marigold growing skills do seem excellent, I always go for the adage that a change is as good as a rest.

i think you should keep on with the marigolds, they were beautiful last year! vel has some 3rd generation marigolds growing in her flowers that were her beloved son's and she is going to send me some to plant with my beloved mother's iris'. Marigolds help keep that bad bugs and slugs out.

I vote marigolds!!!

Dear Mr. Bob,
We are Spaulding and Teddy T's daughtas, as well as, Dilly's biggest fans! We have been in awe of you! It must be wondaful to be Dilly's BROTHER! The only thing we can think of that could be betta would be to be Dilly's SISTA!!!

Anyway, we wite to you, a'cuz we are also part of THE Garden Gals, the gals in our family that give our Grandma (who has no gardening abilities at all -- hey! Wait a minute! I can garden! -- OK, she SAYS she can garden :::rolling eyes:::) her gardening abilities through our secret Garden Gnome Magic. (Even she admits, a'cuz of us, her bwown thumb has twurned yelwhoa, and hopes, someday it will twurn gween -- but that's Peoples' speak, and you know how hard it is to undastand Peoples. But, all that isn't why we are witing you!

We are expewrt sunflowa climbas...and gwowers! (Here's the link to our pwoof. http://spauldingtbear.bravejournal.com/entry/20723 ) That's us climbing up the WEELLY, WEELLY BIG sunflowa.) But, there is annudda good weason to gwow sunflowas, a'sides climbing dem! Did you know some sunflowas are so pwerfect they ackchulee named them "Teddy Bear Sunflowas?" It's twue! Now Teddy Bear sunflowas don't gwow as big as the big ones, but even that has a good reason -- they knew we would plant them some day, so made them small enough to fit into containers! The only downside to them is that squirrels like them, whole! They eat the entiwere flowa, within a couple of days of them flowawing, but that's OK, a'cuz some of our bestest friends are squirrels. (If yore kwik enuf, you can pick dem first, sawtay dem and eat dem yourself! Grandma has the wesapee.)
Yup! We got pictures of Teddy Bear Sunflowas, too. http://spauldingtbear.bravejournal.com/entry/22329

We voted for you to gwow sunflowas, but you might consida something else, too, since you are such an expwert marweegolda -- why not grow both, tall sunflowas, shorta sunflowas, Teddy Bear Sunflowas, AND marweegolds in the front? If'n you can fit them, you can even gwow blue paradise phlox (which looks purple to us, but they call it "blue." Purple is the bestestest cola in the whole world anyway!), on one side and Dilly can grow pink phlox on the other side! Weelly tall sunflowas are just askin' for other flowas in fwont of them, anyway, and, we bet they'd be easierer to climb, if'n you had the right sort of stirdee flowas near them.

Just some helpful idears fwom otha gardenas and Dilly admirererers, like you!

Tine and Dee
Teddy T. and Spaulding T's little giwls!

Sunny tall sunflowers! They make me smile and the birds can eat the seeds. Do you have yellow finches over there?

marigolds ward off bugs and you want that . You seem to be a master gardener!!

I vote for sunflowers AND marigolds as well! Lets all grow sunflowers! and make smiley faces on them with buttons and post pictures of them. (no cheeting and buying em ready growed tho).

bob, what did you decide???

Calamity Jane said...

I voted for sunflowers because they are my favourite flower, well joint favourite along with lilies anyway. Every year I grow different varieties, one year I grew red ones which were gorgeous andsome of last year's were chocolate brown! Plus the birds get to eat the seed heads when the flowers fade. But there's no reason why you can't grow a little bit of everything you know.

I love your marigolds, why don't you still do them, but plant up some sunflowers too? It could be your beanstalk!
